Introduces New PRODUCT LINE:
Semi-Permanent Mold Release System
Formula Five®
|
FORMULA FIVE® Semi-permanent Mold Release
System is a proprietary blend of cross-linking polymers in a
solvent carrier that bond to the mold surface protecting the mold,
preserving fine detail and allowing easy release of parts without
transfer. Suitable for all types of polyester, vinylester, epoxy, phenolic
resins and many rubbers. May be used on most mold or plug substrates
including composites (FRP/GRP ), glass, metal, and rubber. Resistant to
high molding temperatures.
FORMULA FIVE® Semi-permanent Mold Release
gives the molder of thermoset composite parts reduced cost through
improved productivity and cosmetic consistency and lower rejection rates
(less scrap parts). Will not transfer to parts, eliminating the need to
clean prior to post-finishing operations such as painting or bonding.
Benefits include reduced labor, greater part yield (more pulls between
applications), better and consistent part quality, less mold build up and less down time for mold maintenance.
Easy wipe on/leave on (or spray on/wipe off) application.
FORMULA FIVE® Semi-Permanent Mold Releases are industry proven and recommended for
most molding processes including contact molding, hand lay up, spray up,
filament winding, cast polymer (cultured marble/solid surface), rotational
molding, closed molding (RTM, compression, injection), polymer concrete
(polycrete/GRC), and with in-mold coatings.
The polymeric resins used in FORMULA FIVE® Semi-permanent Mold Sealer and Top Coats cure
by hydrolysis (interaction with moisture in the atmosphere) and heat. Recommended storage is in original containers tightly sealed
avoiding extreme temperatures. These products perform well at ambient
temperatures above 70 ºF (21 ºC) but curing at higher temperatures such as 120 ºF (50 ºC) makes a more durable release coating. Multiple coats and
longer curing times for release when preparing mold or before first part
being made will also make a more durable coating. FORMULA FIVE®
Semi-permanent Sealer
and Top Coats must be applied to clean surfaces to perform properly and
should be applied at temperatures 60 ºF (15 ºC) or above. Because of the
rapid evaporation rate of the carrier solvents, spray application is
recommended for mold surfaces 130 ºF (55 ºC) and above.

Formula Five®
Mold Cleaner
|
|
| |
FORMULA
FIVE® Mold Cleaner dissolves mold surface build up caused by wax, silicone,
and other contaminants such as grease and dirt allowing them to be wiped off
without softening or dulling mold surface. Used for general cleaning
of most mold substrates
including those composed
of fiberglass, aluminum, steel and thermoset resins. Cleans without
abrasives and can be used between molding cycles to remove uncured resin and
other contaminates without stripping off underlying coat of semi-permanent
mold release.

Mold stripper
|
|
| |
FORMULA FIVE® Semi-permanent
Mold Stripper is a more aggressive cleaner that dissolves mold
surface build up caused by wax, silicone, and other contaminants
such as grease and dirt allowing them to be wiped off without
softening or dulling mold surface. Used for deep cleaning of
most mold substrates when changing from wax or silicone release
systems to semi-permanent systems. This stripper is also
recommended for deep cleaning of highly detailed mold surfaces
such as “non skid”. To dissolve more stubborn deposits, allow
product to soak on the mold surface and use scrub brush before
wiping off. Should be followed with a warm water wash and final
cleaning with FORMULA FIVE®
Mold Cleaner and dried.

Formula Five®
stripper-S (super)
|
|
| |
FORMULA FIVE®
Stripper-S (Super) is a heavy duty cleaner used to clean most
mold surfaces including metal or thermoset composites (fiber
glass). Effectively combats resin and styrene build up on mold
surfaces and mold scumming. Formulated to dwell on mold surface
and leach out and react with contaminants, FORMULA FIVE®
Stripper-S (Super) dissolves build up caused by wax, silicone
and contaminants such as grease, dirt, resin deposits and
styrene. Allows contaminates to be wiped or washed off the mold
surface. FORMULA FIVE® Stripper-S (Super) is especially
recommended for closed molding operations. This stripper is also
effective for deep cleaning of highly detailed mold surfaces,
engineered surfaces and non-skid. A more aggressive cleaner than
FORMULA FIVE® Mold Strippper, FORMULA FIVE® Stripper-S (Super)
may be used to remove most thermoset resin residues including
polyester, vinylester, epoxy, phenolics and polyurethane and
aids in the removal of cured semi-permanent mold releases.
Best applied to warm molds up to 250 ºF (~120 ºC).

Formula Five®
semi-permanent mold sealer
|
|
| |
FORMULA
FIVE® Semi-permanent
Mold Sealer is a high performance base coat designed for use on most mold or
plug substrates including composite (FRP/GRP), aluminum and steel. Seals the
mold surface and fills micro-porosity creating a smooth, streak free high
gloss surface. Particularly recommended for use in new mold initialization,
sealing reconditioned or repaired areas of previously seasoned molds, and as
a base coat to optimize the performance of semi-permanent top coats. Also
recommended as a mold sealer with sacrificial systems such as wax and PVA,
polymeric, spray or wipe on slip coat mold releases. Simple wipe on/leave on
application. For application to molds at temperatures of 70 ºF (21 ºC) - 120
ºF (49 ºC) and suitable for molding
operations up to 300 ºF (149 ºC).

FORMULA
FIVE® Mold
Sealer-S (Super) is an improved high durability semi-permanent base coat
designed for use on most mold or plug substrates including composite
(FRP/GRP1), glass, aluminum and steel. Seals the mold surface and fills
micro-porosity to create a smooth high gloss surface. Recommended for most
molding processes including contact molding, hand lay up, spray up, cast
polymer and closed molding. Particularly recommended for use in new
composite mold initialization, sealing reconditioned or repaired areas of
previously seasoned molds, and as a base coat to optimize the performance of
semi-permanent top coats. Also recommended as a mold sealer with sacrificial
mold release systems such as wax, polymeric, spray or wipe on slip coat mold
releases. Wipe on or spray on and wipe off application. Recommended
application temperature is 70°F (21°C); do not apply to hot molds over 350°F
(177°C). Suitable for molding process temperatures up to 500°F (260°C).

Formula Five®
semi-permanent matte top coat
|
|
| |
FORMULA FIVE®
Semi-permanent Matte Top Coat aids in the release of both
gelcoated and non-gelcoated fiberglass (FRP/GRP), phenolic, epoxy, polyester
and vinylester, rubber and many PU (polyurethane) foams and elastomer parts from most
substrates, including aluminum, steel, or gelcoated mold and plug surfaces.
Also extends life of silicone rubber molds. A high slip mold release that
produces minimal build up and yields multiple releases per application.
Ideally suited for applications where transfer of release agent to finished
part must be avoided. This product will maintain a matte finish on parts
made from matte finish molds. A very robust and chemically resistant
semi-permanent that can be used in non-gelcoated applications, with primer
gelcoats, and with heavily filled matrices such as cast polymer and polymer
concrete, aggressive resin systems such as DCPD, and in many non-cosmetic
applications such as roto-casting, male molds and “B” sides of closed
molding operations. Ideal for challenging mold surfaces such as “non-skid”
and can replace flange, edge or hat wax with the advantage of eliminating
risk of contaminating cosmetic mold surfaces; no sealer or polishing required.
Suitable for use with process temperatures up to 400 ºF (204 ºC), best when
applied to molds that are at a temperature of or post-cured at 100 ºF (38
ºC) – 150 ºF (66 ºC).
